version 2.0.3 (October 26, 2007)
New Features
- Added a new preference setting, "Display Images in Sub Folders" which will display all images, including those in sub folders, from the top-level folder in the picture menu from which the current image is selected.
- Added a new preference setting, "Always Tile Small Images" which will tile images that are smaller than half the screen's width and height.
- Added in the ability to create your own collections of images, rather than needing to have the images set out the way you want them in some sort of folder hierarchy. See the Picture Folders panel for creating / editing collections.
- Added a new button in the preference pane which will allow you to clear the thumbnail image cache used by the Picture Viewer.
- The orientation of an image is now properly recognized and used when displaying images. Note that you may need to clear the thumbnail image cache before thumbnails for these images are displayed properly in the Picture Viewer.
- Added in a "No Transition" option to the transition menu, which will immediately change the picture rather than showing a transition while changing the picture.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug that could cause Picture Switcher to crash when the desktop picture was changed very rapidly, or (rarely) when the computer was under heavy load.
- Fixed a bug that could cause Picture Switcher to crash in some rare instances when the picture menu was updating.
- Fixed a bug that could cause the background color to be reset to blue when changing the desktop picture from an outside source.
- Fixed an issue that could cause Picture Switcher to cancel a logout / shutdown.
- Fixed a bug where moving the sliders in the Effects / Transition Settings panels could lock up Picture Switcher's UI, needing a force quit to get out of it.
- Fixed a bug where the crash reporter could pop up when no crash had actually occurred.
- Fixed a bug with the "Check For Updates" feature where it could erroneously tell you that an update was already in progress.
version 2.0.2 (September 30, 2007)

- Added in support for applying Core Image effects.

- Added three new change triggers, “When an application launches”, “When an application quits”, and “When an application launches or quits”.
- Added in a Preferences panel.
- Support for settable keyboard shortcuts for many of Picture Switcher's options.
- When searching the file system for images, it is now done in the background.
- Searching of the file system for images is around 10 times faster.
- Now supports aliases when searching for images.
- The Picture Viewer now no longer tries to load every single image; images are loaded on demand as they are scrolled into view.
- The Picture Viewer loads images much, much faster.
- You can now set the size of the Picture Viewer's thumbnails, from the Preferences panel.
- Fixed a bug that could cause Picture Switcher to crash when a very large number of folders were used.
version 1.1.2 (April 28, 2006)
- Fixed an issue where Picture Switcher could cause a system freeze when trying to view a folder in the Picture Viewer that has more than 1500 pictures in it.
- Fixed a bug that prevented the Preview Mode from displaying on systems with a single monitor.
- Fixed a bug with the Preview Mode: holding the Shift key down will toggle the mode, but if you had selected to put it in Preview Mode manually, the Shift key wouldn't function correctly (it stayed in Preview mode rather than toggling it).
- Added in a dialog that will ask if you want to add Picture Switcher to the login items. This dialog will only be displayed the first time you run Picture Switcher.
version 1.1.1 (April 26, 2006)
- Fixed a bug that could cause Picture Switcher to crash on launch.
- Fixed an issue with rotating pictures.
- Fixed a bug with the “Change Picture” menu in the Picture Viewer not updating correctly.
- Added in a Preview Mode to the Picture Viewer.
version 1.1 (April 9, 2006)
- Added in a picture viewer window. This will display thumbnails of your pictures and let you choose the desktop picture from there. Accessed from the new menu item “View Pictures…”
- Changed the way Picture Switcher keeps itself current with the folders on the hard drive. It now watches from the background for any changes. This means there's no longer a pause when you select the menu.
- Fixed an issue where Picture Switcher would refuse to start up if you added a new monitor / created a new user and tried to launch it before opening the “Desktop & Screen Saver” preference pane.
- Added a checkmark next to the folder(s) down to the currently selected desktop picture, to easily see which picture is selected. Note that this only works if the picture is in a folder that's been added to Picture Switcher.
- Added an option to list your iPhoto Library. This option is located in the window where you add folders to the list. It's on by default.
- If you have multiple displays, the Display menu now lists their names, rather than the generic Display 0, Display 1, etc.
- If you have the default /Library/Desktop Pictures in your folder list, it's now displayed as “Apple Images.” This is the same name that is used for this folder in the “Desktop & Screen Saver” preference pane.
- If something changes the desktop picture or its options outside of Picture Switcher (like the “Desktop & Screen Saver” preference pane), Picture Switcher will now notice and update itself.
- Moved the “About” and “Quit” menu items to a submenu named Picture Switcher.
- Added in a Help folder, accessed via the new Picture Switcher menu.
